A Continent Bonus is a game mechanic in XCOM 2.

Establishing contact with every region on a given continent and creating the requisite number of radio relays will unlock a unique bonus to aid your effort.

–In-Game Description

Continent Bonuses provide additional global benefits to the XCOM. In order to receive the bonus a player must make contact with all areas of the continent in question as well as have one to two radio relays present on this continent. Continent Bonuses are randomized each game.

In the War of the Chosen DLC, the continental bonuses are selected from a larger pool of buffs, including several that were previously provided through the Guerrilla Tactics School (which means less upgrades could be purchased by § in WOTC):

  • Buffs that are not selected for continent bonuses can also be earned with a Resistance Order, by researching a Breakthrough, or by going on a Covert Action.
  • Some Resistance Orders and Continent Bonuses overlap with one another. If a bonus appears as a Continent Bonus, it will not appear as a Resistance Order and vice versa. Some of the buffs provided by Continental Bonuses will be split into "I" or "II" grades in Resistance Orders. For example, when Skirmishers' Under the Table appears as a Continent Bonus, its impact ratio is 50%, but when it appears as Resistance Orders, it is split into two grades with 20% and 30% impact ratios, respectively.
  • Some Continent Bonuses will appear as Breakthroughs that will be split into "I" or "II" grades (e.g., Future Combat) and will even have new names (e.g., Lock and Load to Adaptive Personal Combat Sims and Interchangeable Upgrades).
