Floyd

Floyd Tesseract is a Sectoid DJ who hosts a City 31 radio show called "You Should Have Believed" in XCOM: Chimera Squad. He is voiced by Kiff VandenHeuvel.

Tesseract makes an appearance in XCOM Legends, two years after the War for Liberation. Tesseract's radio show broadcasts across the whole of City 31 by this time. He is friends with Betos, who saved his life at some point in the past. Betos calls in a favor to enlist Tesseract's help in disrupting City 31 patrols commanded by a being known as the Creator. He uses his radio show to create a distraction, allowing Betos and XCOM to infiltrate a City 31 facility and extract intel to end the Creator's plans.

Upon Chimera Squad's arrival in City 31 five years after the war, Tesseract initially believes them to be involved in the assassination of Mayor Nightingale. The agents of Chimera Squad variously describe him as a "conspiracy theorist" (Blueblood), a "sectoid prepper" (Claymore), "the ranty guy" (Patchwork) and the "angry man" who "thinks everything is linked to... Everything else" (Shelter). Terminal is a fan of "You Should Have Believed". Verge tells Tesseract, "You were just as insufferable during the invasion," suggesting that Tesseract was a public figure at the time.

Chimera Squad rescues Tesseract after Sacred Coil takes him captive when he exposes a Sacred Coil plan to abduct humans.

Beliefs[]

Floyd2

Floyd Tesseract is known for his opinionated, conspiratorial rants. Some of the beliefs he expresses during XCOM: Chimera Squad include:

  • XCOM and Chimera Squad are involved in the assassination of Mayor Nightingale: "So she gets vaporized the same day XCOM sends 'Chimera Squad' to our city? You hear that voice in your head? That's me, telling you to wake up!"
  • Psionics are not a real threat to City 31: "Those without psionics see it as nebulous and scary. Me? I see it as butter--best if used sparingly, and liable to leave a mess if not."
  • There is a suspiciously large number of empty buildings in City 31: "We don't fill them, yet the City Council won't allow them to be torn down. Do they know something we don't? Are they covering up a scandal? Preparing to house an influx of extradimensional beings heretofore unknown and unseen, that feed off old insulation and wallpaper glue?"
  • The relief supply organization IFC is a conspiracy of Floaters: "You heard the Elders turned all the floaters into archons. Sure, some. But the rest are pulling strings we won't see until it's too late."
  • Sacred Coil is using mitochondrial tracking systems to abduct humans. Floyd turns out to be correct about Sacred Coil kidnapping people.
  • The single biggest threat to the world is the dormant monsters left behind by the Elders: "The Elders left many toys behind. When does XCOM decide it's all right to play with something they don't fully understand?"
  • Demographics are a lie built to justify short-term decision-making.
  • Chemtrails were a method aliens used to keep people docile.
  • Flouridation was the first alien invasion.
  • The Portsmouth abduction of 1961 heralded the arrival of the aliens.
  • Aliens copied men in black and vipers still hold a grudge.
  • The STS-88 Black Knight satellite conspiracy theory was just space debris.
  • Tonsillectomies reduced natural psionic defenses.
  • Air conditioning is a form of behavioral control.
  • Drive-in theaters were a failed attempt at mind control.
  • The moon landings only occurred because the aliens allowed them.
  • The Point Pleasant Mothman was an alien.
  • MJ-12 began as a human hoax but gave the aliens ideas.
  • Only two of Project Blue Book's reports were aliens.
  • The Condon Committee said what the aliens wanted them to say.
  • Groom Lake was only a human airbase.
  • Hanger 18 didn't contain aliens.
  • Pioneer 10 revealed Earth's location but aliens were already aware of it.
  • Social media made the invading aliens' job easier.
  • There are no hidden secrets in the ocean.
  • The Illuminati are false but a good blueprint for ADVENT.
  • Video games are a poor indoctrination tool for aliens because of too much confirmation bias.
