The Flamethrower is a heavy weapon in XCOM 2. Like all heavy weapons, it can only be mounted on heavy armors or SPARK and has 1 ammo charge per mission.
It is produced by finishing an Experimental Heavy Weapon project in the Proving Ground on the Avenger, which each randomly may make one of this item to then be available to be equipped on one soldier/Spark instead of the standard Rocket Launcher.
This weapon sprays flames in an elongated cone, dealing moderate damage and inflicting Burning on the target. Flame will cover all tiles affected by the weapon, which cause burning to units that move on them.
Ability[]
Fire Flamethrower: Sprays flames in a narrow cone-shaped area 25 squares long and 5 squares wide at the far end.
Notes[]
- Mechanical units and other burn-immune enemies are completely unaffected by this weapon.
- A Hazmat Vest makes a unit invulnerable to the initial damage and status effects.
- This weapon can cause panic in affected targets. [explanation needed]
Tips[]
- This weapon is useful for preventing various actions and cooldown-based abilities due to the Burning effect and can even deny some melee-oriented units like Chryssalids and Stun Lancers, who cannot melee attack while Burning.
- Chryssalids are unaffected in the XCOM 2: War of the Chosen.
