Currently, articles on XCOM:EU classes list specific conditions for soldier promotion to that class. I would like to know where that information comes from. In one of my games, I have promoted quite a few soldiers while "fishing" for Assaults and every promotion seemed to be totally random. Promotions to Supports after killing multiple aliens on a mission. Promotion to Sniper after two missions with zero kills. Promotions to Heavies despite throwing no grenades. Promotions to non-Assaults after killing a bunch of aliens with rifles at mid and close range. I have an impression that class assignment is random and that the article info is misleading. Am I missing something? Mitranim
- I've got the similar feeling that it's a complete random thing. If this is unverified, I believe the inaccurate information should be deleted in the near future. teugeneTalkContr 16:16, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
- It's random unfortuantly. I do however remember reading that the chances of getting a particular class is based on the number of that class you already have. So if you 3 heavies, snipers, and assults but only one support, you are more likely (but not gaurenteed) to get a support for your next rookie promotion. From my experence this seems to be true, and its noticable early on as usually the frist four rookies to level up are each a different class.Stormhammer 11 (talk) 20:41, April 23, 2013 (UTC)
- It seems with some characters, that class assignment fixed - i tested this with a trio of rookies and a really bad-aim sniper (60 aim @squaddie skill) and the one soldier i was grooming for replacing her as a sniper would only gain promotions to a support, which is sucky because i dont want a support with 85 aim.
