Hi,

Spoiler alert! Please do not read on if you don't wanna read spoilers.

I just finished the final mission, and when the Skyranger was leaving the Temple Ship, the pilot said "The package is not aboard. I waited for as long as I could." And then the ship rises up to the sky and explodes.

Now does that mean that my whole squad (all my very best soldiers that kind of grew to my heart) are now dead? I mean there is no question about the volunteer (which is bad enough all by itself), but all others as well?

What are your thoughts on this?

  • I took that as that the squad reaches the Skyranger. IIRC the scene doesn't show that explicitely, but it fits the unspoken tradition of happy ending cutscenes: if the squad was dead, it would have been shown or communicated clearly. The "package" the pilot was referring to could be just the Volunteer. He / she has become the biggest asset, and the pilot would have clear instructions to make every effort to retrieve the Volunteer back from the base assault. Alternatively, it could have been the Ethereal Device from the base. However, the scene is open to player interpretation anyway. It's probably intentional, leaving some degree of ambiguity so that players view it their own way, and it's great. Killing the intrigue kills the immersion. Mitranim
That makes sense. I guess I will now also decide to seeing it as "all but the volunteer made it out alive".  Thanks! Pp2009 (talk) 23:03, November 28, 2012 (UTC)
