You are a new XCOM soldier. It has been a year since the Aliens invaded Earth, and XCOM is still on the lookout for a new enemy threat. A few days ago, XCOM received news of alien abductions, bringing reports of sightings of 4-eyed, fanged, human-sized bipedal dark grey creatures. They wore rather weak armor and were equipped with Plasma Rifles. XCOM soldiers were sent to investigate, and had easily wiped out a small troop of these creatures. You stand at attention, waiting for the commander to arrive. Suddenly, the doors burst open and you see the commander. He's a little younger than you expected, he looks about 20. The man had long red hair, a small goatee and wears Psi Armor. "Hello, Soldiers. I'm going to make this brief..." He nods his head and continues "... We have a new enemy on our hands and YOU will destroy them before they destroy us. You should all form squadrons of 6 and get to the barracks. Fast." The man walks off and disappears into the hallway.

You may be a MEC, Mutant, Psychic, or just a normal Soldier. You will begin equipped with Assault Rifles/Sniper Rifles/Lmgs and starting body armor (Or a Warden MEC and a Minigun for MEC troops). As you progress through the ranks you will gain better equipment. Every 4th mission (24 missions total to get Colonel) your squad goes on, everyone in your squad gets a promotion. You will gain a Laser gun and Carpace armor at Corporal, Skeleton Armor at Sergeant, Titan armor and a Plasma Gun (Or a Sentinel MEC and a Railgun if MEC) at Lieutenant, Archangel Armor at Captain, Ghost Armor (Or a Paladin MEC and Particle Gun if MEC) at Major, and Psi Armor (And psionic powers if you aren't a MEC) at Colonel. You also progress in abilities as in the normal game.
