Within the Genetics Lab, a soldier can undergo genetic modification to receive one or more Gene Mods; MEC Troopers cannot be modded. Soldiers can have up to 5 Gene Mods, one for each of the following areas: Brain, Eyes, Chest, Skin, Legs; two options can be unlocked for each available area and Gene Mods can be swapped at cost. The Genetics Labs can modify up to three soldiers at a time; each soldier is removed from active duty for 3 days for each Gene Mod applied.
- Psionic soldiers are eligible for genetic modification, unless the Second Wave option "Mind Hates Matter" is enabled.
