The Grenadier Class is a soldier class in XCOM 2; any Rookie soldier can become a Grenadier in the Armory once they earn enough XP during missions or Covert Actions.
Description[]
Grenadiers are heavily armed soldiers who excel at direct combat and wanton destruction. Many of the class abilities remain the same or roughly similar, with one of the most noticeable changes being their choice of weaponry: a minigun-style cannon and a grenade launcher in the place of the previous Light Machine Gun and Rocket Launcher. As their name suggests, Grenadiers have access to a unique grenade-only equipment slot that stacks with any other utility items the operative might be carrying: this is not just limited to frag grenades, but can be filled with any one of the specialized grenades XCOM can develop. Furthermore, all grenades equipped by the grenadier have roughly double their normal effective range due to being fired from their grenade launcher.

The Grenadier class is equipped with a cannon and a grenade launcher, being able to choose to specialize in demolitions, focus more on making the most of their cannon or go for a combination of the two.

Grenade Launchers[]
Grenade Launchers are a secondary weapon type restricted to Grenadiers. Although they don't increase grenade damage, they can lob grenades much further than hand-thrown, and have a larger explosion radius to damage multiple enemies.
