Something like that. I swear, some of those cans they stuck me in were barely off the drawing board - and should have stayed there. But Faulke liked my work, so that was that.

Lieutenant Leon Barnes is the head of Skyranger operations for The Bureau. He appears inThe Bureau: XCOM Declassified and is voiced by John Eric Bentley.

Background[]

An ace pilot with a distinguished serivce history, Barnes earned his stripes flying medical evacuation missions during the Korean War. After the end of the war, he stayed in service, though his promotion ran afoul of endemic racism. Rather than promotion, he was reassigned to piloting test aircraft with all the dangers it entailed. Director Myron Faulke's headhunting efforts saw Barnes' abilities as both a logistician and a pilot, and arranged for his reassignment to the Bureau.

Although a lieutenant, Barnes was put in charge of The Bureau's flight group, coordinating dozens of Skyrangers on missions across the United States. Barnes delegates a great deal of paperwork to his subordinates, and prefers to put his skills as a pilot to use - a wise choice, since he's the best pilot The Bureau has.

As such, he is frequently assigned to pilot a Skyranger supporting Agent William Carter but is capable of flying a variety of other craft. He provides tactical updates to Carter based on what he can see while circling the hot zone and can drop off resupply crates for the team's use.

Interactions[]

  • Barnes is the pilot of the Skyranger and can be interacted with while at the Base.

Trivia[]

  • Barnes' son is apparently a Sleepwalker, as mentioned in a conversation between him and Dr. Alan Weir if the scientist is the playable character of the final mission.
