The mobile gacha game XCOM Legends featured 51 recruitable heroes, divided into three classes of rarity: Epic, Rare, and Uncommon. Each hero was classified by faction, role, type, and class. Epic heroes had access to War Stories, personal missions that raised level caps and unlocked biographical lore and personal weapons. The game's data files stored the age of each hero but their ages weren't displayed in-game.
Classification[]
The five hero factions were:
- XCOM: XCOM is an international organization who fights against global domination by extra-terrestrial forces.
- Alien: Aliens are, or have been, part of the extraterrestrial enemy force which secretly invaded Earth.
- EXALT: EXALT is a secret human paramilitary society determined to seize power using recovered alien technology.
- Reaper: The Reaper's origins lie on the outskirts of ADVENT cities. To survive, they rely on stealth and trickery.
- Skirmisher: Skirmishers are former ADVENT soldiers who are free from the aliens' control and are looking to redeem themselves for the sins of their past.
- Templar: The Templars are zealous fighters who wield psionic energy to defeat their enemies on the battlefield.
The three hero roles were:
- Tank: Keeps the team alive by taking the brunt of the damage.
- Damage dealer: Specialized on dealing as much damage as possible.
- Support: Supports the team with healing and buffs.
The four hero types had a strength and vulnerability against opponents of other types:
- Cybernetic heroes were strong against psionic opponents and vulnerable to hybrid opponents.
- Psionic heroes were strong against natural opponents and vulnerable to cybernetic opponents.
- Natural heroes were strong against hybrid opponents and vulnerable to psionic opponents.
- Hybrid heroes were strong against cybernetic opponents and vulnerable to natural opponents.
There were five hero classes: Assassin, Heavy, Operative, Specialist, and Trooper. The player could unlock class bonuses via research tech trees but since every hero had unique skills, the hero classes were otherwise purely nominal.
