The M1911 Pistol is a weapon in The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.

Tactical Info

This is the first weapon William Carter acquires. It is fairly accurate and capable of dispatching Sectoids in a few shots, though since tougher enemies are introduced rather early on and in rapid succession, the M1911 loses its usefulness rather quickly. It is also rather hard to find in most maps, making it an unlikely choice in any situation.

While it can be quite deadly in the right hands, there isn't much practicality in keeping it when more effective weaponry are made available, other than bragging rights, preference or personal challenge.

Appearance

The M1911 is the starting weapon for the player and Support Class agents. Despite being rather basic, it is much harder to come across in the environment compared to other starter weapons, though one is almost guaranteed to be around in urban areas.

Agent DaSilva also starts the Hangar 6: R&D campaign equipped with one.

Trivia

• The M1911 Pistol is based on the Colt pistol of the same name, though the real life version has a magazine capacity of 7 rounds, not 9.
• The M1911 is canonically Carter's equipped weapon in most cutscenes, even if it's not in the player's inventory at the time. If the M1911 is not present, the cinematics will show Carter holding (and sometimes firing) the currently selected weapon as if it's the default Colt. This can be observed as early as the prologue level during Agent Weaver's introduction, Carter may hold either a M14 or M1897 shotgun and fire it one-handed like a pistol.
