Sight radius is a statistic (attribute) in XCOM 2 that governs how far units can see.

Seeing an enemy does not trigger them if you are outside their sight radius. Few examples:

  • Specialists can improve the sight radius for a set amount of turns[citation needed] for themselves or for the whole team with successful ADVENT Security Towers hack.
    • Mind-controlling an enemy unit (e.g. with ADVENT Security Towers reward) which is within the enemy sight radius and LOS (line of sight) will trigger the enemy pod and will break the XCOM group concealment.
  • The mission map reveal SITREP provides you with complete vision of them map, but the enemy pods aren't triggered yet.

Scouting an underlying area (with a Battle Scanner or other means) which limits locating the units positioned above, despite being within the sight radius won't trigger enemies because they (and your units too, usually) don't have direct LOS.

Concealed units within enemy sight radius and LOS don't trigger enemy pods, unless the concealment is broken.
