In XCOM 2, Supply Raids are missions that result from the Resistance sabotaging a supply line or downing an ADVENT UFO, allowing XCOM the chance to seize valuable resources from them.
Supply Raid missions are signified by the logo of a burning truck, train, or UFO on the Geoscape.
Supply Raids are never timed, and always begin in concealment. The only requirement of the mission is to eliminate all hostile targets in the area of operations.
Supply Raid missions are guaranteed to offer Supplies, Alien Alloys, and Elerium Crystals upon success, with a rare chance of Intel and Elerium Cores. They are the primary way to obtain Alien Alloys and Elerium Crystals, and the only way (except for hacking, in rare cases) to obtain raw supplies in missions.
If a Supply Raid is skipped (ignored), you will lose contact with the corresponding resistance region, similar to the consequences of losing a Retaliation Mission[1] .
In War of the Chosen, there is a chance for a Raid the ADVENT Convoy, Supply Train, or Troop Transport mission to spawn with one or more SITREPs[2].
Raid the ADVENT Convoy / Raid the ADVENT Supply Train[]
In this mission, XCOM must infiltrate and secure a disabled ADVENT convoy or ADVENT supply train. Destroying the supplies via gunshots or explosives will decrease rewards. There are no civilians on the map, no security towers (rendering hacking impossible), and no reinforcements (timed or otherwise). There is almost no difference between the convoy and train mission variants, except turrets are less likely to spawn on a supply train and more likely to spawn on a convoy[3] .
As there is no turn timer, the mission will progress infinitely until every enemy (except for turrets) is killed, XCOM evacuates from the AO without killing every enemy, or every XCOM soldier is dead (the latter two conditions will trigger a mission failure).
Raid the ADVENT Troop Transport[]
In the Raid the ADVENT Troop Transport mission, XCOM must infiltrate and secure a disabled ADVENT Troop Transport (the vehicle that drops off reinforcements in missions). The objectives, requirements, and success criteria are the exact same as the previous Supply Raid missions, and destroying supplies by explosives or gunshots will likewise decrease the rewards earned[4] .
Secure the Disabled UFO[]
In the Secure the Disabled UFO mission, XCOM must infiltrate and secure a UFO that was shot down by Resistance forces. It can only generate after the non-Chosen Avenger Defense mission is completed. Unlike the previous missions, destroying parts of the UFO or even the cargo crates themselves will not decrease the final reward earned, and these types of missions cannot spawn with SITREPs[5] .
Once concealment is broken, a distress signal will be activated. XCOM has six turns to deactivate the beacon by hacking or physically destroy it (with explosives or another method), or a single group of reinforcements will be dropped in. Failing to deactivate the beacon or letting the six-turn timer expire will not fail the mission[6] .
Even after the six-turn timer has elapsed, the mission will continue until every enemy is killed, XCOM evacuates from the AO, or every XCOM soldier is killed (the latter two conditions will trigger a mission failure).
Extract ADVENT Supplies (WOTC only)[]
This mission is only possible with the War of the Chosen expansion.[7]
In the Extract ADVENT Supplies mission, XCOM must infiltrate and tag supply crates for the Skyranger to retrieve, while ADVENT tags and retrieves their own crates. It can spawn in two biomes - Abandoned City or Wilderness. It cannot spawn with SITREPs, although any mission that takes place in the Abandoned City biome will have the Lost spawn infinitely. In the mission, there are usually 12 crates randomly scattered on the map (sometimes less).
Crates may be used as half-covers, but if marked and retrieved, the cover bonus will be lost as they leave the map. In the mission, there will be different appearances of crates, which may represent the different resources contained within them[explanation needed]. The resources provided by the crates are determined from the beginning of the mission.
Marking a crate is a free action that any soldier adjacent to it may take. While this action will break concealment, ADVENT will not mark crates until concealment is broken; after that, they will mark 2 crates that were not marked by XCOM every 2 turns.
The Skyranger can only retrieve up to 3 crates in one turn, and the remaining marked crates will be left on the battlefield. The crates marked by ADVENT can still be remarked by XCOM soldiers, but if left unchecked, they will be reclaimed by ADVENT in the next turn. When a marked crate is in the radius of an AoE attack, there will be a warning of friendly fire[explanation needed].
At the beginning of the mission, the only objective is to "Eliminate all target enemies". The mission will continue until every enemy is killed, XCOM evacuates from the AO when there are still crates on the map, or every XCOM soldier is killed. (the latter two conditions will trigger a mission failure[citation needed]).
When there are no more crates on the map, Bradford will indicate that the mission target has been completed, and an additional "Evacuate all XCOM soldiers" will be added to the objectives in the upper left corner of the screen. In this situation, calling the Skyranger and evacuating all XCOM soldiers instead of eliminating all enemies will still successfully end the mission, but the resources obtained after the mission will not include dead enemy corpses.
The number of extracted crates itself is not a win condition, but it will affect the resources XCOM obtains after the mission ends.
