The Progeny is a faction in XCOM: Chimera Squad consisting of an all Human network of psionics. They believe in a future for City 31 that is completely psionic and will do whatever they can to further this agenda. The Progeny strengthen their numbers by abducting Hybrids and indoctrinating them into subservient thralls. The Progeny's main goal is to induce a psionic evolution on the inhabitants of City 31. They are led by Violet, a product of ADVENT experimentation, she induces psionic capabilities upon The Progeny's membership.
Unit Types[]
Acolyte[]
A Human psionic soldier armed with a pistol, they can resist Psi attacks and are immune to Cease Fire Grenades. The ability Psionic Suplex will levitate an Agent, making them an easy target and slamming them into the ground on their next turn, causing damage and inflicting Stun or Disorient. They can also use Soulfire to deal psionic damage that ignores armor. Both abilities have a 1-turn cooldown.
Sorcerer[]
The most powerful Human psionic soldier among the Progeny, they are immune to all mental effects (this includes Disorient, any form of Stun, and even Weapon Disable). They have various psionic abilities:
- Teleport lets them cross short distances and still take one more action. It does not trigger Overwatch or other passive abilities.
- Force Lance does large damage in a line, hitting multiple targets.
- Tyranny removes any mental effects on an ally and lets them take one extra action right away.
- Writhe deals damage to an Agent and heals the Sorcerer. Only usable at melee range.
Thrall[]
A mind controlled Hybrid with shotgun. If a Sorcerer is present, they can use Subservience - it turns the Thrall into a meat shield. If the Sorcerer is hit, she takes no damage and the Subservient ally is instantly killed.
Resonant[]
A mind controlled Sectoid with an assault rifle who can support other Progeny units. They can use Psi Domain to increase the psionic damage of all Progeny troops by 1 and take one more action afterwards. This ability stacks as many times as many Resonants use it. They also have the ability Soul Siphon that does 2 damage to the Resonant and heals a select ally by 4. When killed (but not when rendered unconscious), they explode in a short Psionic burst, potentially causing Panic for 2 rounds in nearby Agents. If a Sorcerer is present, they can use Subservience - it turns the Resonant into a meat shield. If the Sorcerer is hit, she takes no damage and the Subservient ally is instantly killed.
Brute[]
A mind controlled Muton wielding a shotgun. They have a melee attack called Devastating Blow that can Stun targets. After shooting or moving, can take Melee Stance, attacking everyone who comes nearby as a free action. Damaging the Brute will trigger Bloodlust, making it move towards their attacker.
Codex[]
Similar to their XCOM 2 appearance, they are generated from the Progeny's homemade psionic network. Can Clone themselves if hit (unless Disoriented or Stunned, or reduced to 1HP in which latter case they will Teleport). Psionic Bomb creates a large psionic area and disables primary weapons inside it, and explodes before the Codex's next turn. The Codex always moves by Teleport, never triggering Overwatch. They can be affected by Psi abilities and added to Verge's Neural Network, but cannot be captured by any means. Torque can also Bind them, negating all their abilities. They are immune to Poison.
Archon[]
Similar to their XCOM 2 appearance, however Burnout (formerly Blazing Pinions) now works indoors too. It creates 3 target points on your agents, where rockets will land in 1 turn, destroying cover and doing damage in a 9 square area. Stunning the Archon will cancel this. Damaging them triggers Battle Frenzy, making the Archon advance and potentially perform a melee attack. They can fire their staff or perform melee attacks. As in XCOM 2, Archons fly and thus cannot take cover, but have an innate Dodge. Flying also renders them immune to Verge's Slam ability.
Violet[]
The leader and founder of Progeny, a powerful human Psionic. She has all the abilities of a Sorcerer, with the added change that she is immune to Tongue Pull and Bind. Additionally, each time she is hit, she will automatically Teleport away.
