The Vektor Rifle is the Reaper's conventional primary weapon in XCOM 2.
While looking similar and shares the upgrade technology as the Sniper Rifle, the Vektor Rifle shares practically none of the characteristics as it requires only 1 Action to fire, has no close range penalties, and lacks Squadsight by default. It is more similar to conventional weapons like the Assault Rifle.
While the Vektor Rifle has low base damage, it has a high critical damage bonus, equaling the Shotgun.
It upgrades to the Temnotic Rifle after researching Gauss Weapons and to the Shadow Lance after Plasma Lance (Research).
Trivia[]
- The design of the Vektor Rifle may have been based off the SVD Dragunov.
- The reapers seen in the first cutscene for Lost and Abandoned carry Vektor rifles with no scopes. It is likely that this is an oversight by the developers.
- According to a post on the official XCOM website, the Vektor rifle has a range of 1000m (3280 ft.), muzzle Velocity of 850 m/s.
- It also says the standard issue Vektor rifle is "a testament to the efficiency of its old-world design", the successive magnetic and energy variants were originally shunned by the Reapers, but proved extremely powerful.
